Question:

I need some sound advice for my upcoming FF draft?

I have B.Westbrook as my franchise player from last season. Do you guys think this may be the year he goes down? What do you guys like/dislike about M.Barber? Would you give up Westbrook in a deal that would include getting Barber and R.Wayne? The manager picking 2nd wants Westbrook very badly. He is willing to franchise Wayne and draft Barber to then swing a deal with me after the draft.

What do you guys think???

  1. I like Reggie Wayne (from a fantasy football perspective).  But I don't like Marion Barber III.  Is there another RB that he could draft for you instead?  As is I probably wouldn't do it.

  2. I would do it giving up one stud player for a touchdown machine and a go to reciever in a pass oriented offence.

  3. Westbrook is very solid, and has been unusually durable for two straight years.

The source I use (footballguys.com), depending on format lists Westbrook #3 overall.

Barber III is #7 overall, and Wayne comes in among the top receivers at #15 overall.

Barber will get every chance to be the feature back, though Felix Jones will take some of his cheese.

On balance, I like the deal.  You are getting two great players.

My only question is, this is still effectively a 2 for 1 deal.  What will you have to drop/release/trade to complete the deal?

That should be factored into the overall cost.

I would do it.  I think Reggie Wayne is going to be a monster this year.  Barber III is already a TD producer.

EDIT: Well, the deal will hinge on how highly drafted that WR will be.  It's still potentially a good deal, and you might get younger players which is good.

I almost feel like you should keep Westbrook, and then turn the screws on him.  You'll hold all the cards.  Find out what player he likes.

You'll have a hard time getting the better end of the deal if he gets to pick the WR you draft...

EDIT 2: I concur on your fear about Westbrook.  I usualyl find myself trying to unload him.  Do it.  He's 29...

  4. You know what?  I like your thinking.  Phil. refuses to go out and get viable WRs for an injury-prone/ old McNabb and thus puts a lot of burden on Westbrook.  Every defense goes into their games w/ Phil. by putting their whole emphasis on stopping Westbrook.  If you can get both Wayne and Barber for him I would do it.  Both of these players are young, they are on great teams and have a bright future ahead of them.

PS Look for S. Jackson to be come-back player of the year and have a huge season!

I'd still do it w/ giving up a WR too!
