My daughters birthday is in December and she is upset because her brothers is in July and he can have a party outside. Im trying to think of themes that I can do for a five year old girl and make it a big party like I did for my son's birthday.

  1. Even tho it's December, she can still have part of her party outside!  Have games in the snow, a snowman building "contest", snow painting, etc!  Bundle the little ones up and make sure parents know to send the appropriate clothing.

When they come back in, turn up the heat, warm them up, let them have cocoa and marshmallows, smores (that you make, of course), etc.  They could have a pretend campfire inside, or whatev!  Use your imagination.

  2. Have a Winter Wonderland party.

In the invitation, say to bring snowpants, coats, mittens, scarves, hats, boots, etc. Start the party inside. As each child arrives, direct them to a crafts table. Have each child pick out a plain birthday hat (purchased at party store) and decorate it with pom-poms, sequins, glitter, stickers, beads, etc. (all purchased at craft store) Once every one is there, set the finished hats on a table to dry, bundle the children up and take them outside. Divide the children into even groups. At each group station, have a box or pile of things to decorate the snowman. Things to include would be a scarf, hat, charcoal, rocks, carrot, buttons, bottle caps, etc. Have them see who can build a snowman the fastest. The snowman must have at least 3 layers, eyes, nose, mouth, at least 3 buttons, and one or more accessory. Whichever group finishes first get a prize. (notebooks, cool pencils, cool erasers, plastic jewelry piece) All other girls get a smaller prize, such as a piece of candy. Then let the kids play outside for 15 more minutes. After that take them in. Have hot cocoa and a snack. Play snowball, snowball, snowman (duck duck goose) and then have lunch. Lunch could be snowman shaped pizza, winter shaped noodles with snow sauce(fettuchine sauce), and snowman beds(garlic bread). Play some more games such as Snow Monster May I (Mother May I), Snowman Says (Simon Says), and other games variated to be winter themed. Also do a little more outside play if they want to. You can also play winter themed games and do winter crafts.

Then make s'mores. If you have an indoor fireplace, help the girls make them. Otherwise make them in the oven and then give them to them. If you use a fireplace, be very careful! If there's a near-by ice skating rink, take them there, rent skates for everyone, and stay for an hour and a half or until the kids want to go. Then if the children are going home, play a board game and have hot cocoa until they all leave. If they are sleeping over, have hot cocoa and play a game for about 30 minutes. Then let the children help you make cookies or cupcakes. When they are done and cooled, allow the girls to decorate their own cookie/cupcake with colored frosting, sprinkles, and decorating gel. At some point you would also need to do dinner. This could be your daughter's favorite meal. Then have all the girls brush their teeth, put jammies on, and get them settled in the living or family room in sleeping bags and turn on your daughter's favorite cartoon movie. Have them eat their cookie/cupcake and have a small bowl of popcorn for them to share. After the movie, bedtime. In the morning feed them a breakfast of fruit, pancakes with fun toppings, and either bacon or sausage. Then get them dressed and have them play until their parents come. Give them each a goodie bag and allow them to take home their prizes from games. You could also do a pinata and then instead of a goodie bag, give each a $5 or $2.50 stuffed animal from Kohls. The ones from the last story are half off. If you do a goodie bag, let your daughter choose what goes in it. Look in the Target $1 section, dollar store, party store, etc. Good things would be snowman/snowflake jewlery, winter themed pencils/ notepads/ erasers, candy, small plastic or stuffed toys, etc. I highly suggest a sleepover. If she is inviting girls and boys, have the boys go home before dinner. Decorate the party space in blue and white everything. Plus snowman/winter themed things.

  4. Aww, you could hire a venue, pub or community centre and hire a bouncy castle, you can have a look at this site for bouncy castles Buddy`s Castles opperate in the West Midlands areas and mainly cater for adults and teenagers entertainment, but they do have a few bouncy castles for children. The hawaiian themed bouncy castle is excellent and gives great hawaiian theme ideas.

  5. Many local hotels will allow you to host a pool party / birthday party...or the y

Ask for a life guard to be on duty too.

Or, turn your family room into a hawiian theme and deck it out ...have the girls come in baithing suits and buy them each a grass skirt or lei found at dollar store or craft store.

Make tropical treats and do a indoor scavenger hunt.  Use beach music...

    Have fun

  6. Is there an indoor pool in your area? I have a daughter that loves to swim, but her birthday is in Feb. We always throw her parties there. She has a blast.

  7. i just planned a complete princess party for my neighbors and it was a hit!!!

we gave every girl a crown when they came in and we called them princess____(whatvevr their name was) all day.

also, go to orientaltrading . com for some GREAT ideas

  8. Maybe you can look around for a fun venue where you can have the party, like Pump It Up (it's a place with big inflatable slides and bouncers, and they rent out the space for parties), an aquarium, an indoor play space, or something along those lines.  If all else fails and you don't have anything like that around you, there is always Chuck E. Cheese.
