So heres whats going on. Im 16 right now about to start my junior year in school. Ever since i was little ive had a true passion for basketball. I always promised myself i would be in the NBA one day. I played in league through grade school and middle school..but when i got to my freshman year in highschool i stopped because i just lost the passion for the game. I didnt playbasketball my freshman or sophmore year. Now that im a junior the love for the game is back and im ready to play again. I feel like ive screwed up my life and career cause i didnt play the previous highschool years. What do you think my chances are at playing in college and eventually the nba? Im an all around good pointguard and ive always been a starter. Im worried its too late to start to pursue my dream again.. I just want any feedback and thoughts, Its been eating away at me for awhile now. Thanks for the time.

  1. a tiny percent of basketball players ever make the NBA. Only the very best have a shot at the NBA. I'm sure that if you really gave it everything you had you could have a shot playing college basketball. But like I said before unless your amazing, sorry to say but your not going to be in the NBA.. and if you do focus on playing basketball over everything and then don't make it to the NBA then you'll be left with no other career options. And considering you have already lost passion for the game once, you could certainly lose it again, once again leaving you with no other options. I myself have a love for basketball and watch all the games and attend many games.. and like me, im sure there are many other ways that you could fill your passion for basketball.

  2. The More you practice, the better your chance will be. If you practice, with a purpose & perfectly all the time, and you have a good work ethitic, you can make it to the college level. If you're MJ status (hypothetically) when you start playing your junior year, colleges are gonna get you. Theyre not going to care if you didn't play your freshman or sophomore year, it's all about the type of player you are in the present.

    Good luck

  3. whether or not you choose to try for college or the nba is irrelevant.  You are young, you need to play if not for the fun and love of the game.  Once school is over its over and if you didn't at least try it will bother you for the rest of your life.  There are lots of international players that play in college or pros that had little to no hs basketball experience.  Hakeem Olajuwon didn't start playing until he was 15 years old.

  4. It is not too late if you have talent and work hard.  You might have to go to a smaller school or walk on at your choice of schools if you have the money.  Talent and hard work will get you what you want if you have it.
