Question:

I need some tips, because I want to improve...?

I don't usually write poetry, but I've been trying to do so lately. The reason I don't usually write it is because I always feel like I miss the mark. I feel like more of a prose writer than anything, but I really want to learn to express my emotions through poetry. Can you give me some useful advice? I especially seem to have trouble with how I want to space lines and how I want the rhythm to flow...

  1. Poems can be written in many ways. I feel the best way to write to create some sort of flow is to write a line with separation. Insert commas to complete or begin a thought. incorporate a lot of imagery and metaphors/similes. If a line doesn't work, split it up, or edit it so each line contains the same amount of syllables, or a patten of syllable alternating each line. Just speak to your reader, and my favorite kind of poetry is the kind that doesn't tell a story bluntly, but more imaginative, allowing the reader to take away what the wish

  2. Poem should have an unresistable flow. Try to read great poets of your nation mainly who r related with the thoughts coming in your mind. There is no readymade formula for it .A river full of water makes its own way . Allow the thoughts to mature in your mind so much that they will automatically come out in the form of poetry. In starting try to be as simple as possible. Do not try to show your iq level. Space and rhythm will improve only when thoughts r matured.
