I need some tips on my surfing?

i am getting stuck on getting up, i can catch the wave but go to stand up on and get to the bit to get up on my knees

  1. You need to practice your pop-ups on land.

    Push yourself up with your hands on either side of your board and immediately draw your feet into position under you.

    Some surfers push up, put first foot on the tail, and then place their other foot in position.

  2. practice your pop-up a little on the sand... a Pop-Up is like doing a press-up, in that the first part of the move is to straighten your arms out in front of you, but instead of keeping your legs and body straight you need to bring your legs up and under your body, planting your feet in the correct positions for surfing. You can practice by lying flat, straight out on your stomach. Place your hands up by your chest (as if you were doing a press-up), board width apart. In one flowing movement snap up to a crouched standing position as quickly as you can. Practice makes perfect

When you go to get up, try and go from your paddling position to standing in one fluid movement.  Try not to crawl to your knees and then try and get one foot then the next down.  You can practice on the beach, or lay your board across your bed and practice your pop up maneuver to get a better feel at trying to reduce the hesitation of going to your knees before getting from lying prone on your surfboard to your standing position.  For more intro info, check out http://www.surfersvillage.com/learn/star...  Keep trying, its worth the effort.

  5. Im a native Hawaiian girl and have been surfing for 9 years, so take my advice well and seriously if u want to achieve surfing!

    it sounds like your balance isnt that good, keep standing up on the board for a few minutes without falling or tipping over. when surfing, you must wax your board good cuz it helps balance and its sticky, so u wont fall into the waters.

    lay on it flat down

    push yourself into the waters with your arms and legs, paddle paddle paddle. when you see a wave coming, stand up quickly and keep balance! Balance is very important for surfing! If u know how to skateboard, you can do it. you must also know how to swim good. Try not to  shift and move around a lot. stay still

    and when surfing, make sure you always have a buddy or partner with you to watch you cuz surfing is really dangerous even when you think nothings gonna happen at the moment, it surprises you right away so be prepare and take precaution's! Also when you're surfing, you must have energy and good hand eye coornation's

  6. you might be shifting your weight wrong. If you put your weight on the back of the board then you'll crash so try to lean forward. that might help.
