As was mentioned, without a skilled instructor and competent people to practice with, it'll be nearly impossible to even become decent at grappling.

Keeping that in mind, I'd urge you to find a good gym in your area ASAP. In the mean time, check out http://submissions101.com  Go to the free videos section.

Try to find a partner to practice with. Gradually increase the resistance during your drilling.

But seriously, don't forget one thing: you could practice off of videos for 3 years and would still probably get killed by somebody with 9 months of proper training.

Best way to learn is from an a live instructor. You can't fully learn and understand any martial art from a book or video. Find a gym in your area and see if you can sign up.
