  1. go to a hospital summer volunteering program, volunteer at an animal shelter, etc. anywhere where you dont get paid

  2. You could volunteer at a senior home. Or perhaps do some community work such as pick up garbage. For me, I volunteer to coach soccer.

  3. do everything all the other people have been telling you to do.

  4. Cleaning streets,helping old people ... :D:D:D

  5. If you are curious about a certain career maybe you can work at a place that you would be exposed to what the workers are doing while you are getting your service points. You can go to hospitals, nursing homes, schools. I have worked with sick people & I felt needed but I think it is healtier working in a school.

  6. My standard response:

    In and around schools, you can:

    * create picnic tables or benches for the school campus - for high school / middle / or elementary

    * repaint the lines on the outdoor [basketball/volleyball/ hopscotch/4 corner etc.] court - for high / middle / elementary

    * repaint any of the jungle gym type equipment that exist at most elementary schools

    * paint a mural on a wall inside

    * help put away library books

    * do some fundraising!  how do you do that - and have a good time at the same time?  get pictures of instructors and set up a contest where students vote for their favorite teacher - each cent counts as 1 vote.  The winner gets...something trivial.

    Community:

    * check churches

    * check hospitals

    * check old-folks' homes

    * check animal shelters...or combine 2 things - take your dog/cat to an old folks' home!

    * check local branches of national organizations (American red cross, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Race for the Cure, 4-H, etc.)

    * check with the chamber of commerce

    * check with the Mayor's office

    * check with the local parks and rec office

    * call your local Boy Scout / Girl Scout troop - because potential Eagle / Gold scouts have to run a service project and often need people-power to make it happen

    * reading for the blind

    * read books to children in daycare

  7. On most high school campuses there ate student associations/student govt. either offered as a club, or as a class.  If it's offered as a club, go to a meeting and get information about what student govt. does in the community...student govt. normally has a lot of volunteer opportunities.

    Also, many areas have a Snowline Hospice store, which is basically a thrift store.  They're always looking for volunteers.

    You may also want to try the library, see if there's a way you could volunteer to read to kids.  Most of the time with reading programs in libraries you may need to be fingerprinted and there's usually a background check.

    Also try looking for soup kitchens and nursing homes.

    If you like animals try the local humane society, or zoo.  With a zoo you might not get to interact with the animals, you'll probably be working with young kids, or doing paperwork/office jobs.
