I got new speakers and a new in-dash deck in my car, heres whats going on.

These are my speakers:

And this is my deck:

The deck is 16 watts RMS x 4 channels and my speakers are 110 watts RMS. Would this cause diminished sound quality from the speakers? I am hearing some light crackling not unlike what you would hear from a turntable. The wires are all tight and the speakers are new. would installing an amp in my car make the speakers sound better and get rid of the crackling? Or is it more likely that the speakers are just bad?

  1. This is a awesome setup you have..it shouldn't be sounding bad,do you have stock oem speakers installed for the other set? This may be what you are hearing,as you turn up the stereo, you may hear the stock ones making noise?

  2. Speakers shouldn't have poor sound quality no matter what wattage they're given. When you turn down the volume on the speakers, the wattage given goes down, and no distortion occurs. The speakers are probably lemons, and you should return them for exchanges. If only pumping 16w RMS to the speakers, you need a better deck than that. I can get a kenwood for 200 dollars that pumps 45w RMS to 4 speakers. It might be a poor deck, so check that at a local shop and also check the speakers on a friends amp or some other power generator to see if that's the problem.
