  1. i live in texas, not sure wheer your from but.... we have spiders that resemble what you are describing, not too big, i have never seen one bigger than a quater, and we call them jumping spiders and as far as i kow they are not poisonus, but just because its not poisonus does not mean that it can not bite, i personally have never been biten by a spider but i'm sure it probably does not feel too good. but i would'nt be too worried about the one you seen out side. look up the spiders native to you area on the net and see if you can find a pic of the one you saw so you can be sure its not harmful.

  2. I'm pretty certain that I found one of these Daring Jumping spiders outside my house this afternoon.

I have never seen such an ugly critter so close to home.

My neighbour receives all kinds of shipments from China and currently there is a lot of cardboard boxes in the space between our houses.  I was concerned that this creature was from China and was a stowaway.  As this could be serious I checked the Internet resources and found a photo that is exactly the same as my "specimen".

This (and others) source only list the US as habitat but I presume that Canada can be included in that.

If anyone knows for sure that these spiders are common (or not) in Canada, please write a response.

  3. Its a flooka spider mate. very dangerious little guys. One bite and you could be getting that limb loped off. sorry mate they are attracted to fear, their is only one way to word them off. you gotta do the devy dance of ward. you jump on one foot in a cycle while yiping then poor salt around the bed and hope he knows your a nut this is the wrong area. spiders are not reptiles

  4. Phidippus audax. Also  called the "bold' or "daring" jumping spider. These are very common in north america, ranging around one cenitmeter in size. Jumping spiders are easily distinguished from other spiders by their four big eyes on the face and four smaller eyes on top of the head. Around the world there are probably more than 5000 species of jumping spiders. Although a jumping spider can jump more than fifty times its body length, none of its legs has enlarged muscles. The power for jumping comes from a quick contraction of muscles in the front part of the body increasing the blood pressure, which causes the legs to extend rapidly much as the hydraulics in a low-rider car. Although small, if not handled carfully, these spider can give a somwhat of a painfull bite.

  5. White tip possibly. they are really poisonos Look it up on the net and make sure.

  6. It might be a Daring Jumping Spider.

Be glad when you see spiders around.  Most are harmless to people, but they do keep other nastier bugs under control.
