I need something to do around Long Island/NYC. Suggestions?

It needs to be fun for a wide age range and the cheaper the better. Here's what has already been eliminated:

Six Flags

Splish Splash

Zoos

Site-Seeing in NYC

Hersey Park

Sporting events

Beaches (unless there's something going on there)

coney island, adventureland, malls, chinatown, long island childrens museum (adults can enjoy it too), , cold spring harbor whaling museum, planting fields arboritum, caumset state park, marineland, ny aquarium, water tours around oyster bay, westhampton beach (the town), montauk lighthouse, farms on the north fork.

Well you can go to the Jones Beach boardwalk. They usually have something going on there like a small band and dancing. Also, the Long Island Children's Museum was a good idea. I went there in like 2 grade so If you have kids it's really fun.
