Question:

I need suggestions for "baby books" for adopted older kids?

My friends are adopting a 7 year old girl and I want to get them a book to record all their early memories as they begin their lives together. Most the baby books I've come across focus on adopting babies and only cover the child's first year of life. Like all parents, they are going to be quite busy, so I want something simple that they can "fill in the blanks" and add photos to. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

  1. You may want to go to an AC Moore or a Michael's and buy a scrapbook and hand make one yourself.  Although we had an adoption "baby book" for my daughter, I put a scrap book together detailing her first family's story, how she came to us, pictures of her first mom, and welcome notes from her adoptive family.

  2. the ebst thing you could do is buy a whole bunch of stuff for them to start there own book with scrapo booking, but a nice paperback book, hard cover and many things they can use in it for scrap booking which will record all the memories, birthdays parties school and ect

  3. I am not a baby book person and did not use the fill in the blank ones that we received - though I thought it was sweet when people took the time to find ones geared toward adoption.

I prefer a blank book and would choose that but if you want one that is ideally suited to an older child, you could have one made. Most of the sites that allow you to upload digital photos to print have book options. You could upload some decorative photos geared toward the child's age and gender on some pages and upload documents with fields that you customize on other pages. Be sure to leave plenty of blank pages or pages that will work well as a background for photos or announcements that they want to paste in.

  4. We had a hard time finding something too!  All of the "Lifebooks" were geared toward infant adoptions.  We ended up making our own scrapbook.

If you do find something, let me know!

  5. I would love to hear all the answers from this one, as hopefully our adoption will be over this year (pray).  Scrap-booking could be a fun way, this way the child could help and add their own memories.
