Voyager 1 launched Sept 5, 1977 from Xape Canaveral, FL on a Titan rocket.  No crew.

Origonally, it was devlised to explore the solar system, but over the past several years Voyager 1 has been exploring the outer oundry of our solar system.  Currently, at almost 10 billiob miles from the sun, it is the farthest man made object in space from us.

It is most famous for the golden record it carries with it that has information and greetings from many many countires on earth.
