I need therapy for my social anxiety and cant get a referral

I need a referral to see a therapist and have to wait three months to see my doctor. I really need to go to therapy because my social anxiety is keeping my life on hold. is there another way i can get a referral that is quicker than three months?

Whenever I need a referral and there's no appointment for weeks, I fake like I'm sick and need to see the doctor and then ask for the referral at the end of the consultation.

i would just call the doctors office and ask them to write one up so you can pick it up later in the week. if that doesn't work, i think you should call with the flu and get it from that appointment. good luck

I have a mild case of social anxt. The best way to cure it is also the hardest way, do what you normally wouldnt do. IE make eye contact even though you dont want to, try to not shy away from confrontation.

I would try to go to another out patient clinic, there should be more than 1 in your area.  The reason it is taking so long is most likely the one you went to is booked up.  You should be able to see a therapist sooner, but a lot of time they will have you wait 3 months to see the psychiatrist, since most doctors give you meds with 2 refills.

Call your doctor and see if they have a cancellation list (that is when people cancel, they call you and see if you can make it)

Call your current doctor and explain the situation.

call around-check out the yellow pages under community pages- look for sliding scale mental health places- a visit could cost anywhere from 3 to 20 bucks a visit
