  1. legitimate agents do not charge money up front. they only get a small commission(around 10%) from the monies you are paid. the agents job is to find auditions into which you may fit, it is up to you to audition, and get selected for a part or role. no job-no pay for either of you. it's as simple as that. try checking out the s.a.g, screen actors guild website. they issue notices and articles on illicit bahavior, methods, and scams going on. try checking the aftra, union website for info. or actors equity, as well.. if an agent tries to sell you on buying photos or acting classes for a fee. leave. those agents are getting a kickback on the deal, and not looking out for your interests. scams come in all flavors, and they have one thing in common. getting your money, not finding you legitimate auditions that can fit you.

  2. YES

  3. NO THEY DONT!

All REAL agents do not vost money, and yes it is true that if they ask for money they are a scam.

An agent's job is to help you get an acting job. If you book an acting job that your agent booked for you then they get 10 pecent of the money that you earned from that booked job!

  4. I wish the blind would stop trying to lead the sightless.  Here is how a legit agent works. It costs nothing for you to sign up with them, but you will need to get photos and comp cards at your expense, and,  if they get you a job, they get a percentage of the money you make. That is  it. Any one claiming to be an agent who tries to charge you  a registration fee or posting fee or tries to sell you classes or photos is a scam.

  5. they do and they also want a percentage

  6. They should not charge you upfront, but when you make money, they do too meaning they get some of the money YOU make. it's only fair.

  7. I answer AGENT questions when the mood strikes me, but I'm not a fan at all. Most of you who come here are young,,,no offense, and SO MANY seem to think AGENT relates to Mecca?

YES in the most strict sense they do COST, but any who ask for Upfront $$$ should be avoided. The exception might be if they perform services such as Head Shots, resume building, etc.  They may all charge fractional differences in percentages they take from you, IF and when they get work for you, which is also something you need to investigate, before you or a parent sign anything.

In my low regard for them, I equate them to Profiteers, and my statement ALWAYS is, that an agent is likely someone to hire when one no longer really needs one. Obviously we all may have different opinions.

Assume for a moment, that even a valid agent, Dictates that You are obligated for 10% of your earnings. Not many agents will take on a client, whom they think might not profit them. 10% of ZERO, isn't a very loud "JINGLE" in an agents pocket.

  8. All agents charge money but some are a scam so watch out who your going to get!! good luck! =]

  9. Of course agents cost money. It is a job, and they need to be paid fairly for their work. Agents do so many things for people, and get paid very well.

      hope this helps =]

  10. I WILL 100 % SWEAR ON MY LIFE AND GOD AGENTS DO NOT COST! PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY DO ARE IDIOTS!

THEY ARE FREE AND ONLY COST 10-20 % OF YOUR INCOME

  11. Of course they do. They are not going to help you find work for free.

  12. NO!!!!!!!!! only scams cost you money when they find you work they get a percentage of what you make
