I need tips for jumping higher and spiking in volleyball.?

Okay so I'm lyk 5' 1 1/2" n i'm a lil short so i was hoping i cud improve my jumping skills since i wunt 2 join volleyball n im good but i cant spike (well only if the net is low enuf but our nets really high 4 me at skool) n i need help, the tournament is lyk this friday n i need help, altho its evry friday but this is the first week we're havn it n i wunt 2 do as gud as evry1 expects me 2. Tips r gr8ly apreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    and i am a hitter..

    Jump Rope helps ALOT!!

    just like jump for 10 mins a day and you will see your vertical improve so much!

    another thing you can do is

    every time you go to hit. USE YOUR APPROACH!

    that helps tons!

    and have your coach make sure you doing it correctly..

    make sure you really use your arms..

  2. well, i use to be in this situation too, i got a little taller since then, but i never could really get my spiking down pat, but my coach said it helped if you practiced jumping against a wall or something, and then sooner or later you will improve, like wall jumps. Have you ever done those? It's when your agaisnt a wall and you jump and reach as high as you can with your hands. And for spiking, what I do, (and my spiking is improving) is that you take a volleyball and spike it against a wall, so that it hits the floor, then the wall and it comes back at you, and you can spike it over and over again. I, myself, think this made me improve alot in the past 2 years. and good luck in your tourni on friday. :)

  3. walk around with ankle weights on, this builds up your leg muscles allowing you to jump higher, compression shorts help some

  4. lose weight, well not to an unhealthy point, but dropping a few lbs helps your jump height and hang time.

    if you have little sisters or nieces play hop scotch or jump rope, the more you hop on your legs the stronger the muscles become to actually jump.

    Do jumping jacks every morning, and free (without weights) squats too. Building the muscles in your legs and keeping them springy, for lack of a better word, is the only way to gain hops.

  5. what i do is whenever there is a door i jump and c how high i can get 2 the top of it or i jump rope all the time all day lol
