I just need some tips or anything I should do during or before a 5k. I'm not running it, I'm walking it. If heat has something to do with it, it's really hot here. Lol any who please let me know if there's anything I should know thanks.

Oh and I'm doing it for a charity, it's for cancer.

Thanks in advance.

  1. I think your special to walk for a cancer charity cause.

5k is just a tad over three miles and if its hot and you haven't walked that far much, Then you sure need to take your time. Take along a bottled water and drink about 5 swallows every 15 minutes. or when ever your thirsty.

If you have a few days before the walk then try walking a bit each day to get the feel. Wear comfortable clothes and be sure to carry some ID on you in-case of emergencies. Walk at a Pace your not out of breath..and can carry on a conversation and you will be all right..Good luck.

  2. You should be fine, even walking you should be able to finish in around an hour. There will likely be a water station at the 2nd mile, perhaps even the first. If you want, bring a water to carry. There might be chip timing, in which case you will need to tie the chip into your shoe laces. Have fun.

  3. If you are just walking it, you should be fine. If you want to prepare and make sure you will be fine with the heat, go out and try it one weekend.  I would recommend finding a good talking buddy. Start a conversation, and before you know it, you will be done. 5K is just over 3 miles, so not long at all. You will be fine. Good luck!
