  1. Its hard to tell you with out not being there to show, you so look up a local 4-H club or stables in your area and see if the can help, or go to the store a buy a book, on it or a western horsesman manzine!

  2. Clinton Anderson DVDs are really good. There are different DVDs for different experiences and prospects. I have a bunch, but I really enjoy my Clinton Anderson adn Sherry Cervi DVDs. They are great. They take you from the ground up. Pat Parelli, and Charmayne James are great too. Charmayne James is the 13 time World Champ Barrel Racer. I am very active in FFA and 4-H. If you are willing, 4-H is a great program to be involved in! There are usually a bunch of p[eople who are also at you level. RFDTV is a good channel to watch too. You just have to get back on a horse and trust that you can work together and be fine. What happened with your other horse was proboly a freak accident and happens 1 in a million times. Its sad, but, everyone has to move on. This horse you got is probobly very trusting and patient. When you get it, dont go straight to running the barrels. Walk around them and if you feel comfortable, trot or jog. Also, you should do other stuff besides barrels to keep you and your horse "there" all the time. Barrels are awesome! I would also work on making your horse slow, western pleasure. You want your horse to be soft, supple and responsive. Cutting and reinging are also good for barrel horses. Hope this helps and have fun with your new horse. Good Luck!
