  1. speak in the language they speak. =)

and always have patience. try not to be too technical. never forget to bring goodies if necessary. bribe them if needed, haha.  good luck

  2. I coach a junior high team and I usually let them warm up with a game. I let them play freeze tag, but in order to "unfreeze" the "frozen" you have to dive through the "frozen' girls legs, as if you were diving for the ball. Also I make them stay within the volleyball court which makes them sprint harder. I also googled vball drills and there are tons of them online, you just have to take the time to look. I have always found it easier to plan your practices beforehand, that way you get the most out of the time you have with the girls. Just make sure to keep things moving, you don't want any down time, that is when they get bored and start talking amongst themselves.

    Good Luck

  3. I was coached very well. My coach never let us do anything wrong. She helped us practice everything until we got it right. Dont just say "good job" and hope they do better next time, or no one will ever get better. A good exercise to help aim is to have your players stand in a zig zag line.. then have them pass to the person diagonal of them and keep going down the line. Its really fun! Good Luck!

  4. When you are coaching an age group like this, all you can really do is teach them the fundementals and try to keep it fun for them. Work on passing, setting, and serving. That is about all I can say to do. Since it is your first time coaching, you need to have fun as well!
