I'm going on this trip with 12 other people. Personally I'll be paying for my family of 3. What are some affordable places to stay? What are the activities we should try? Any comments you have on Wisconsin Dells would be appreciated.

  1. If you really want to go the cheap route and have the means, there are many nice campgrounds in and around the Dells area.  If you just go a couple minutes off the main roads you'll find yourself in some beautiful wooded areas that are perfect for feeling like you've gotten back to nature but still have the convience of modern life right outside your tent.

Another way to save some dough is if you stay at the hotel next to Mount Olympus (I know it used to be called Treasure Island but the might have changed the name recently) you get free entrance to the park and that place is a go-kart and water park all in one, really nice and saves you from dropping a fortune at other water parks.

A trip on the Wisconsin Ducks is nice and a great way to see the country side if you havent already.  Downtown Dells has some nice sights to see and good shopping.  The Deer Park is nice for families with little kids too.

  2. Try http://www.flybymetravel.com for some great deals.  Go their Tickets and Attractions section (under the Vacations tab) to find activities and such that you can do in the area.
