I need to be in San Ysidro CA on Friday by 7pm. I live in LA (Downtown).?

Question

I want to avoid traffic. And I don't mind taking the train.

What should I do? Take the train from Union Station (LA) to San Diego? What time do you recommend me to leave from LA? How can I check on departure times?

Traffic on the 405 on Friday evening (4-6pm) is impossible if I decide to take my car.

Take a Southwest Airlines flight to San Diego.

Take Amtrak from Union Station to San Diego.  

Or, if you want to spend more and go faster, take Metrolink to Oceanside and Amtrak from there.
