I need to boost my credit score?

My credit score is 578. I have the money to pay off all the bad debts on my account which is about 5,000.00. I've am planning to pay them off on monday. Do you think this would boost my score to about 700. If so, how long will it take.

For the past two years I've had 5 accounts in good standing... never late. The 5,000 is from three to four years ago. What do you guys think. I want a 700!
