  1. Most  shop bought wireless cameras only have a range of 100 metres by line of sight, also they use the 2.4 Ghz frequency which is shared by blue tooth and wireless internet, so you could finmd a high degree of interference in your area.

An IP camera again works on the same frequency, but you can set a channel that is redundant elsewhere in your neighbourhood, this linked to a wireless sender or access point will extend your range to about 150 metres if using N system wifi. This can be linked via its Web address to your PC and your wirelss internet  such that you could access it anywhere there is internet through its IP address.

More expensive cameras have a VMD Video Motion Detection software such that it will alert you when there is activity nearby.

The cost of such a system is going to be near that of a high end in car entertainment system and as power hungry. So you will need a separate battery for this.

  2. Your going to have to buy a cordless camera and be parked somewhere that the receiver can pick it up. Go to Radio Shack and tell them what you need

  3. Check with harbor freight, I think that they have one for around $100.00 or so, good luck.
