Does anyone know if this sealer is water or oil based and is there a sealer that I can buy for example at homedepot that will work with the Gemseal that was used already on my concrete?

  1. Anytime you use sealers on concrete, you need to find out the technical data. Sometimes it is not on the can, but can easily be e-mail over by the manufacturer. It tells you the chemical make up and if it is solvent or water based. When you determine that, all you need to do is go to the HD or Lowe's store and look for a sealant that matches the chemical makeup. Some will require you to prep the surface first and make sure you read the temperature rates for applications. Always test an area first for compatibility and wait three days for curing to see if any reaction develops.
