Question:

I need to buy a tennis racquet?

I just bust my old tennis racquet and i need to buy a new racquet. I would like to buy a racquet that helps me generate good top spin, like Babolats. I'd like the racquet to be quite light ( better lighter than heavier) and obviously comfortable. I need a good pop on the hit as well.

I like hitting the ball with heavy topspin and i hit the ball quite hard. Probably short-medium to medium swing on the hit. I am a baseline player and so do not volley too much. I would really like the racket to be under £70, so if any of the suggestions are going to be over that price, please do not post them.

So please help me out. all suggestions within reason are welcome and please try and find the price. Thank you.

  1. I think you could probably find a very good racquet for around £100.  From the way you describe your hitting/play style, it seems very much like Nadal's style of play (hard hitting/heavy topspin).  Plus, you said you are interested in Babolats (I own two of the Roddick-style Babolats) which Nadal just so happens to use.  He uses the Babolat Aero Storm.  I hit with these racquets before.  They have a very slim design allowing them to carve through the air, thus generating much more racquet speed and, ultimately, more top spin. I believe these racquets retail for 185USD (approx. £95..I think).  You might also consider eBay once you have decided on the type of racquet.  I know many friends who bought their racquets off eBay for about 3/4-1/2 off the normal retail value.

Of course more than just the racquet can help you generate topspin.  You can also invest in decent string.  I believe most pros use a brand called Luxilon.  They have a type of string (Rough) that is textured to grip the ball longer on impact, generating more spin.

If you haven't already, go to www.tenniswarehouse.com

They have the most complete choice of tennis racquets, strings, etc. that I have found.

    Good Luck!

  2. ok i have a medium swing and im a backline player also and i use a wilson ncode 5 and it is light and you can hit it quite hard so thats what i would go with so i hope i helped you and its only 65$

  3. Sorry, but a good racket would cost way more than 70 pounds. I don't know what to tell you.

  4. I am selling my Babolat pure drive team for 110$, thats about £70.... Right?

    I have 2 of them

When I used that racket I played with HUGE topspin, topspin grip and swing.
