I need to buy electric cooker wheelchair height. cant find a sight. help?

it must be between 70cm and 80cm high. Normal sights like b+q etc do not cater for disabled in wheelchairs

Hi Maureen,

You're not the only one having trouble finding a cooker between 70 and 80cms tall.  The problem is that there are very few this size that are made as the standard height is 90cm.

I have looked through our site and while we do not stock any there may be a solution for you.  If you were to buy integrated appliances, you would be able to have them installed at the height that you want them. This would mean that you wouldn't need to find a special cooker and may work out cheaper for you.

Depending on what you need you can often get some good packages including both the hob and the cooker part at a special price.

I am not sure that there is an online site like this one. But perhaps another person would know where to find your item. Another search word would be apartment sized electric cooker, You could look in ads in newspapers, brochures, or call a place who looks after people in wheel chairs. lol

Go on the web and look for a Baby Belling it could be what you are looking for I had one in a flat when I was young. good luck.

I am very tall so I had my kitchen units fitted higher. I bet you could get yours done lower - to the height you need them. The fitter can probably adapt something or make something to suit.

Instead of having a cooker why don't you have a hob and eye-level hob fitted to suit the height you need for yourself.

If you were in the US I would recommend calling a physical therapy rehabilitation center and ask them where to go and look. Also you could contact the makes of electric cookers and ask if they made a line of cookers for wheelchair homes. Also contractors who build or adapt homes for wheelchairs.
