I'm not just goofing off I actually have a family event to go to but my boss is a b**ch so I need a really good reason... Any ideas?

Like I'm either going to use I got an awful sunburn and can barely move or I just found out about XC try outs and they're tonight.

I've been trying to find a cover for like 2 days and no one can take it.

  1. just tell them its personal, she's not allowed to ask for details when you use that excuse. But, its only good for 2 days.

  2. Do not use the sunburn thing - she'll know you're lying - just call in telling them that you have a family emergency that you don't wish to discuss (it's not their business if it's a family emergency)

  3. One thing i learned is to ALWAYS give atleast 3-4 days advanced. If you cant do that-then try to find a co-worker who can fill in your hours.Make excuses is defiantly not going to help you-i agree with the first answerer on what you shoud say

  4. have you tried honesty?

how long have you known about the family event?

do you really think no one is aware of you trying for two days to get off and won't suspect any EXCUSE you give them?

thinking up LIES to tell your employer is a bad decision and says very little for you. if you are caught lying you may be fired so why not at least be honest about why you won't be in. either way your employer and fellow employees are going to have to make up for your absence and either way you might get fired for it so at least show some class and decency by telling the truth and accept the consequences for failing to properly plan.

it makes no difference why you are absent (sick, family emergency etcetera) if you are not able to work when scheduled you can be terminated. what generally is the determining factor in employment actions resulting from absenteeism is how you handle and address the absences and if you follow policy concerning them.

    EDIT:

"It's a part time job at a grocery store... no big deal if I lie, really."

i bet your your family is proud and this employer will really make a great reference in the future. if it is no big deal just don't show up.................great life choice.
