Question:

I need to change a profile on a yahoo groups account?

My daughter created a profile that is inappropriate and it keeps attaching itself to me when I try to join a group. It will not let me change it. Instead, I get a page which says: "Sorry, the profile you have selected is unavailable" If I try to do all the same things through her email address, it takes me right where I want to go and allows for the changes to be made?

  1. It sounds like she might have added a profile in your own Yahoo account and set it as default.  If this is true, you can delete the profile she created and leave only your own.  Or set your own profile as default. Or you can edit her profile, then set your own profile as default.

    To delete her profile:

Sign in anywhere on Yahoo using your own username and password.

Click on "My Account" near top of screen.

    Enter your password.

On the far right side of page, click on "Edit/Create Profiles."

Near top of page, you will see your own profile and the one your daughter might have created.

To the right of the profile your daughter created, click on "Delete Profile".

    Click Finished Editing.

To edit your daughter's public profile, Follow the above steps and instead of deleting her profile, click Edit to the right of her profile and change the content of what she has written in her profile.  Then click Finished Editing.

To make your own profile the default instead of her's and not delete her profile, follow the above steps and click "Make Default" to the right of your own Yahoo ID. Then click Finished Editing.

If your daughter is 13 years of age or over, she could register for her own Yahoo Account and create her own public profile.  That would keep your profile from being tied to her's and causing the future problems such as you are having.

  2. did your daughter make a completely different profile or an alias off from your primary? if she made a completely different profile, you'r need to sign on on the web, and sign into yours.
