I need to change a washer in my hot tap in the kitchen and can't find how to turn off the hot water.

Question

I have a Manco Combination Cylinder Direct water tank and have no idea what valve or nut to turn in order to stop water flow. Any ideas?

You have to stop the water filling the cylinder, so there should be a stopcock for cold water. This usually fills from the cold water storage tank, not the mains. Unfortunately you have to drain off any hot water you have in the hot tank. So before draining it off, use the hot water for a bath, fill your kettle  (OK to drink once it has boiled) fill some saucepans for cooking/washing up etc. etc. Then you can change the washer. I just hope you don't get any air locks..............
