I need to change my plane ticket for usairways, can anyone shed some light?

I purchased a ticket online yesterday for June 6th and then to come back on July 6th (Both in the United States) I just now realize I must be back June 23rd.

I went to go change my ticket online and there is a 150 dollar fee.

So here is my question, would it be cheaper to just cancel my ticket for usairways and then purchase another one? Would that save me having to pay that 150 dollar change fee?

Thank you!

  1. If there is a $150 fee to change it, then the fare is probably nonrefundable. So, it probably will not be cheaper to cancel your original flight unless the total fare was less than $150. You'll lose the total amount of the original ticket and you'll have to buy a completely new ticket at the current fare.

You'll have to call the airline or the website's customer service department to be sure, but buying a new ticket could well cost more than changing the original.

  2. You're responsible for paying the change fee and any applicable fare difference to change the original flight to a new return date.  If those things in combination are more than the cost of a new ticket, then it's cheaper to simply buy a new ticket.

No one here can tell you which option is cheaper without knowing where you're flying and how much you originally paid.  You might be better off calling US Airways directly and walking through the options with them.
