I need to change the crankshaft seals on my yamaha banshee and just wondering if i need to split the casings

or can i remove the flywheel and the water pump cogs and do it that way because i am getting gear oil in my crank please can some one help me

yes, you need to split the case, the crank seals are removed from the inside

I think that engine is the same as the old RZ 350. On those engines you could change the seal the way you want. Have a look at the new seals, and see if there is a ridge around the outside on the surface that contacts the case. If there is NOT a ridge, then go ahead and replace it. If there IS a ridge then split the cases..
