  1. Get outdoors, swim, bike, joint a sports league, do aerobics with an aerobics class, etc...

  2. don't stop for like an hour!

i break up my hour of cardio, the first half is on an elliptical which i do blind folded (meditation) and the other half (after i do weight stuff) i practice sword fighting (normally weighted sticks, or just sticks, do it fast or else it is just anaerobic try using two for speed and coordination!) or dance (fast music, best with some friends, or at a metal concert!)

  3. ...

This is tough to answer because it's really a matter of you determining what kinds of things you enjoy.

So, reflect a bit.  On a general basis, what do you enjoy doing?

    Being with people?

    Getting encouragement from others?

    Encouraging others?

    Competition?

    The outdoors?   The indoors?

    Discernible progress?

    Relaxation?

    Learning new things?

    Variety?

    Visual stimulation (e.g., tv)?

    Music?

    Active movement?

    Quiet times?

You're sick of the stairmaster and treadmills (I do not blame you!).  Ask yourself, what is it about how you have been using the stairmaster and treadmills you don't like?

Okay, now that you know what you like and don't like, it's time for you to construct a routine that incorporates what you like, and avoids what you don't like.

And you'll find that many activities, even running on treadmills or going up stairmasters, are activities you can turn to as long as you envelope it in what you enjoy.

    Make sense?

**Personally, I thrive on feeling fit and healthy, competition, feeling strong, doing things most of the time with others, feeling moderately competent, some variety, doing things with my kids (ages 17-23).  Did I say competition?  Oh yes, competition.

Consequently I am training for half marathons and a triathlon, doing running, Spinning, bicycling, swimming, some SuperSlow training with machines, occasionally ellipticals, using SPRI bands, even cable machines.  For a break, I go backpacking.  I don't like group movement classes (e.g., Zumba or Step).  But this is ME.  I know what I like to do.  And that's where you need to start.
