After asking about the english bull dog stinking. I realized I didn't do my homework. I knew they had some problems. My hubby was trying to talk me in to a Yorkie or Yorkipoo. So any advise or thought on this. I am a stay at home mom. Is this a good dog?

  1. Yeah.

  2. How old are your children? Toy breeds (or mixes, in the case of the "Yorkipoo") aren't generally a smart idea with toddlers.

  3. a yorkie is a very smart dog, and high energy, so if you stay at home, you will have more time for the dog then if you had to work. it will be trained faster, and you will learn more about it. this would be a good breed, but i would also suggest a shih tzu, i have one, and he is the sweetest dog i know. he has NEVER growled at anyone, or anything, except for a small rodent in my backyard, but he was only trying to protect me, and he couldnt see because it was dark, im pretty sure if it was daytime, he would have ignored the animal. Shih tzus are good dogs, and I've had two so far, and they were both great, just make sure before you get any dog, research the breed, you should know most facts about the breed before you get one. and you should consider going to your local animal shelter or an animal rescue, a lot of dogs need homes. good luck & have fun :)

  4. A friend of mine had a yorkie and it was the yappiest little dog.  I didn't care for that dog.

My wife has a miniature pinscher (min-pin).  She is a great inside dog and loves to sit on laps and stuff.  I'd suggest thinking about getting one of those if you want a small dog.  Lucy doesn't bark too much...just if she hears someone coming down the driveway or if the doorbell rings.

  5. just tell hubby to leave you alone so you can do your homework or you won't talk to him about another dog.  That should shut him up.

  6. You should do more homework ... start with finding out what EXACTLY a Yorkiepoo is.... and then look at a yorkie... does it suite your lifestyle... only you can make this decision.  Lots and lots of research will help you out.
