I need to drive from London to Palma, Mallorca?

Does anyone know the best route, how long it will take, what it could cost and whether or not ferries need to be pre-booked?

I've never done this before eek

use auto route, prebooked ferries may be more comforting, knowing you have a place but cheaper if you sort it out at the time. Personally, I would drive to Barcelona and take the ferry from there.
