1)Steelworlk deteriorating due to corrosion or electolytic action

2) Concrete subject to sulfate attack

3) Timber deteriorating because of fungal or insect attack

Techniques need to be compared in terms of effectiveness, ease of application, costs, health and safety and environmental friendliness!

and if you have time after that, a cure for world hunger would be swell!! lol

  1. a lot, I'll try one.

    3) timber. Replace it, preferably with pressure treated wood, or wood resistance to rot, such as redwood, cedar, cyprus. If it's structural, it has to be replaced, or shored up with parallel beams/posts/whatever. You should also evaluate why the rot is occurring. You may need new concrete footings, or other techniques to get the wood out of contact with the ground.

If it's not structural, you can use epoxy or other treatments to harden the rotted wood. This is slow and expensive to do.
