Absolutely cannot find anybody in this area that is not an idiot claiming to know something about the air cooled/ factory fuel injected VW engines. Have spent literally thousands and still have a car that cannot be trusted to drive to the grocery store. Kinda upsetting. Please advise if you know anybody with experience

  1. To be honest- that car could make the best mechanics look like idiots. The basic design of all white wires running a primitive computer with "resistance" the key to fuel mixture was a night mare. As soon as the wiring got brittle and the resistance went up the car would run rich. Then the temp fix was to ground the temp sensor. That made it hard to start, but run right later. On top of that was poorly designed injector seals. That would allow one or two cyl to run lean while the others ran rich due to the wiring.

There is just not enought room to talk about the relays and fuel accumulators, and pumps it took to get it to behave after it was more than 10 years old. Only thing worse was the audi 100 LS. But I'm running out of ink.

  2. Try this:

The owner is a good friend and my brother in law works there. My husband is a good VW mechanic but we're in KC.
