I want to find a horse for sale. I need some help though..I've been looking forever but I can't find the one yet. I've had a few close ones that I liked a lot. I'll show you those later. Here is the info that you need to find my horse.

Age: No younger than 6 no older than 10.

Breed: I'm not too picky but I like Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds.

Color: No color I really want. I'll take any color. Look at sorrels and bays though.

Discipline: English Pleasure; Jumping; Dressage (One of those at least)

Money: Cannot be more than $3,000 and no lower than $1,000 (those probably aren't the best if they are lower than $1,000)

State: Minnesota

Temperament: Not too hyper/spirited. Not too boring either. Probably about a 4 out of 10.

Thanks!

  1. Here are some websites :

    www.horsetopia.com

    www.equine.com

  2. Just keep looking and TRY all the horses you are considering, possibly more than once if you can. I looked for over a year before I found my horse, and I went out to ride him for two weeks before I bought him. I knew I loved him right from the start, but I had to be sure that he was the horse they said he was etc.

In terms of the horses you listed above:

Chips X Clamation  - too old according to your criteria, that is prob why his price is so low. I would avoid, his chances of having some sort of tendon or arthritis increase with age.

Dark Bay Thoroughbred For Sale in Hastings (afton alps area), Minnesota - way too pricey, see in all the pictures her face is sticking way out, this means she does not know how to give and come onto the bit, a MUST for dressage and eventually proper jumping. She just looks like a poke around horse and doesn't come across as a wonderful show mount to me. Plus you can find a better horse for that price.

Felix - again hes older than 10, but it says that he has only started his dressage and jumping career. It takes a lot to teach a horse how to properly jump, and put it all together until they are show ready. If he was a bit younger I would say hes the perfect choice, but with his age and lack of experience, he might not be worth it. There are lots of other horses out there for 2500 ish that might be much more suited for you.

Pretty By Choice - gorgeous boy, but hes all western according to the pictures and the description, so he doesn't sound anything like what you are looking for. Granted you can re-train him but that will take time, and money, so why not buy a horse that is already suited for what you want?

Macs Black Raven - good candidate for what you want, has he done any jumping? If they don't mention it there might be a problem. I would suggest going to try out this guy. He seems to preform well with kids of all ages, has already proven himself at shows, and its hard to tell but from the one picture he seems decently put together conformation wise.

'Amazing Justice' - it says she requires an experienced rider, what rider level are you? Trust me you always want a horse below you in level, most people 'overbuy' with their first horse, and then are miserable when they cannot ride or control their horses. Go try her if you are still interested, but her temperament is too high for me for being a quarter horse. Otherwise she is very pretty.

Macslittlebitbony- shes older and has only shown at halter and equitation classes, meaning she doesnt do dressage or jumping from what it sound like. She doesn't sound suited for what you want to do, shes older than you want and her price is a bit high. Pass.

'Luke' - I do not like this horses conformation at all. Perhaps it is the pictures, but I don't like his back, his legs, and he is out in behind, please don't waste your time or money on something that isn't put together right.

6yr. old,14.3 hands golden palomino mare $4,000 - um, what has she done? the don't give any info about her and their pictures are sort of silly. If they don't show her under saddle its likely she hasn't done anything yet. Her price is way to high for what you are looking for, and it sounds like she hasn't done anything that you were looking to do. I would pass.

Here are some horses I found that you might want to take a look at:

http://www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php... - I think this horse sounds perfect for you if you can ride at that level. Go try him! He's already done show and has done low level jumping. You don't really need a horse than can jump 3ft right away anyways.

http://www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php... - email and ask for pictures and ask what sort of under saddle work he has had done, you don't want him to be too green so that he needs to learn things still, but just needing more time under saddle and show experience is OK.

Good luck! If you have any further questions or want me to look at a horse for you, just shoot me an email. mlewing@calpoly.edu

  3. I use equine.com but you can find adds for horse sales locally in horse/equine magazines like Horse&Rider Horse or Horse Illustrated and other magazines. Look in the back/front for classifiededs and adds.

  4. dreamhorse.com is my favorite because you can look up horses by all your criteria, such as age limits, price limits, and breeds!

  5. I sell horse.

    Normal Horse = £5000

    Damaged Goods  ÃƒÂ‚£1000

    Choice of Damaged Horse:

    3 Legs

    4 Legs. No Head.

  6. I'm a fellow Minnesotan! You have a lot of options, especially if you're willing to travel throughout the state. What level of experience are you? Do you need a horse that is thoroughly trained in those disciplines? Or can they just be started? You really should have no problem finding a horse, especially if you're willing to go as far as $3000. I bought my last horse here in MN for $350, hadn't been ridden for almost 5 years, but knew the basics and I'm training him now for endurance and is one of the greatest horses I've ever owned...so it's all in what you're able/willing/experienced enough to do...it's most definitely a buyer's market right now in the horse industry and you can get some real great horses for not too much money-- I hope you find what you're looking for--

  7. I really like Felix. I think you should go with one of the horses that you have already found thye all look good to me.

  8. go to your locaL feed store or country store a lot of times they will have adds posted or look in the stablemate magazine they have that mgazine at any feed store. good luck! i like the palimino horse! and the horseclick website horse
