have you read up on skype. You can talk thru you computer system for 1/4 of the price

I would suggest vonage - broadband internet phone service - www.vonage.com.  You can get unlimited local & long distance for $24.99, plus I believe if you sign up soon, the deal is the 1st 3 mos for 9.99. They have excellent calling features (call waiting, voicemail, etc) at no additional cost.
