Question:

I need to find a place in the Saint Louis area that has been affected by erosion.?

Anyone who knows a place, please post it. i'm looking to stay within Saint Louis County/City and Jefferson County.

  1. Somewhere along the bank of the Mississippi would be a good place to look. It would depend on what kind of erosion you were wanting, whether it be erosion that causerd damage or just signs of erosion. There would have to be some signs of erosion on the banks though. The river is quite large and has a lot a soil moving capabilities.


  2. start with some farms, particularly cattle farming.

    the edge of water holes would be a good place to observe this as hard hooves damage these areas.

    also looking at any stream in an agricultural area you can normally see the water is fairly brown from soil run off.

  3. Get in touch with your County Conservation District, they specialize in erosion control through better farming, wind break, better ranching methods.

    Missouri has an association of Conservation Districts they can be accessed at this web site http://www.maswcd.net/ You should be able to find someone to call your area.

    It's a great organization, their goal is to help the environment without being nasty about it.
