is there a name for one of these places so i can find one in Maryland.

ex: if I give a coat they will give me $25 for giving it away

not a pawn shop, but somewhere for clothes too

Are you talking about a consignment store? It's a shop that sells things for you but you don't get money until your item sells.

If it is a donation why would you expect to be paid for it?

If you expect money in return, then what you're doing isn't "donating", it's *selling*.
