  2. Hmmm ... I'm not sure if this is specific to Penn ...

... since you are in the US it would probably add irony to your report if you do it on "The American Bald Eagle and the effects of DDT".

The Bald Eagle population, and a lot of other birds, in the US were almost wiped out (in the late 60's early 70's if I recall correctly) because of DDT, which was an insecticide used to spray crops.  It poisoned the birds by absorbing a lot of the calcium in their blood.  Without calcium, their eggshells were so thin that when the mother bird sat on them they were crushed.

Replacement eagles had to be imported from Nova Scotia to save America's national symbol because of industrial pollution.

That, to me, has always been the strongest symbol that the American government has always valued business before nature.

    Good luck with your project.

  3. if they are endangered they will be hard to find

but if you wait a bit

    they will all be endangered

Of the earth's estimated 10 million species, 300,000 have vanished in the past 50 years. each years, 3,000 to 30,000 species become extinct.

A lot of human activity is speeding that up since we tend to overpower all the other species in one way or another.

  5. For endangered animal species, three words.....World Wildlife Fund.  They track all endangered and at-risk species by state, country, and continent.  If they can't help you, no one can.   If you are interested in endangered plant species, check the botany department in your local college or university.
