It could be about anything, really. I'm looking for something that would keep my audience's attention. Emotional and personal and humorous topics work best for me. Thanks!

  1. alien bases on the dark side of the moon

secret government missions to the moon to mine helium 3

stalin's secret army of 1/2 man 1/2 ape soldiers

    the loch ness monster

    bigfoot

    the chupacabra

    the bermuda triangle

    wormholes/time travel/alternate dimensions

if you did any of these topics in my class you would have an automatic A

  2. How about the humor and sadness of some of the Hollywood Pop Star's lives?  No 'real' childhood, no advanced real education, making tons of money, fake friends, managers, awesome parties, concert tours/movie starring roles,  paparazzi, and the inevitable rehab and then the climb back up to success.  Britney, Robert Downey Jr.

How about a sort of sarcastic speech on Global Warming?  The devastating effects it is having on the Polar Bear population, the people who live along the earth's beaches (thing the Pacific Islanders) and contrast that with how great it is going to be for Scuba divers when Los Angeles, New York, London, Miami, Washington DC, etc. are completely under water!  How pleasant the Winters are going to be (of course the summers will be real killers... but it will feel like the tropics in Toronto!

Whatever your speech, make sure you pick a topic that your audience can RELATE to directly.  Speeches about Julius Caesar or How a traffic light work are probably not going to get the same response as a speech about George Bush's ridiculous things he's said as a world Leader, or How My new Wii Ruined My Life. :-)

Also, your speech should be written like:

Serious thing, Serious thing, Funny thing, Really funny thing, Serious thing, Sad thing, Devastatingly sad thing, serious thing, serious thing. Ending on: Unusual Funny Thing / Fact that the Audience will remember.

  3. love

  4. Emotional topics for a speech are a BAD idea - stick with personal and humorous.  For instance, you could talk about an embarrassing moment, a significant "first" in your life (first day of school, first kiss, first date, etc.), or a practical joke you played on someone (or vice versa) - especially one that may have backfired!
