Living in inner London borough. Disabled mum, husband & self both lost income due to NHS blunder. Can't afford private education, can't get 100% bursary for private education. Option of POSSIBLY repeating year at superior primary school, OR homeschooling with top up (paid for, somehow?!) lessons & obviously, extra curricular activities for 'social' mixing/integration etc. Many thanks in advance.

  1. This isn't a UK company (it's USA), but you can use it in the UK.  You can purchase it to use as homeschooling, or you can enroll in their international academy.

Edited to add - "Weas" you've been reported for such an insulting comment (that was NOT an answer).

  2. You don't have to "buy" home education!  I am home educating my 13 year old daughter (I live in England) and all I buy are actual textbooks and general stationery.  We just work through them together.  It does not matter if you are knowledgeable about the subjects yourself.  For example I have not done algebra since 1974 but I am learning with her now and I am actually enjoying it!!

It is helpful sometimes to buy any accompanying answer books for subjects in which you are not confident.  The only course I am paying for is one in GCSE in Astronomy and that is because you have to go through a school or correspondence school to sit that particular exam.

    Here are some useful websites:

This is the exams mailing list, which is very helpful.  You can subscribe by sending an e-mail to:

General Home Education sites which tell you all the legal stuff:

    Home Education Advisory Service

    Education Otherwise

    Parents Centre (DfES)

I know that this is rather premature, but you might like to look at the following for future reference:

Exam Boards from which you can download exam specification, past exam papers etc.  Try to avoid specs where coursework is a requirement - OCR are more likely to offer a coursework free option and some (very few) subjects are not available for private candidates:

    Oxford, Cambridge & RSA (OCR)

    AQA

    EdExcel

    Good luck!

I haven't looked at it too much; don't know if it costs anything.
