I have read that since i was not born after 1961..and since i have parents marriage certificate, and birth certificate, all i need is a translation in portuguese.

Is there anything else that I need to produce in Goa to the portuguese consulate?

Please can some one give me some info on this and how long it will take?

  1. First place I'd ask is at the Portuguese consulate.  You might ask your father, too...

  2. According to the Portuguese Citizenship Act, the following persons are Portuguese by birth:

    a) the children of a Portuguese father or a Portuguese mother born on Portuguese territory or territory under Portuguese administration, or born abroad if the Portuguese parent there is in service of the Portuguese State; ....

    b) the children of a Portuguese father or a Portuguese mother born abroad, if they declare, that they want to be Portuguese or if they register the birth in a Portuguese civil register; ....

As of December 2006, knowledge of the Portuguese language is required.  Dual citizenship is allowed.

Since you mention going to Goa, I am including the link to the consulate there:

  3. All citizens of Portugal are entitled to a Portuguese passport. In Portugal, applications for a Portuguese passport need to be made in person to a Lojas do Cidadão (in the Azores, RIAC - Rede Integrada de Apoio ao Cidadão) (English: Civil Assistance Centers.) Overseas applications need to be made in person at a consular authority (i.e. embassy, consulate-general, or consulate.)

In order to apply for a passport, an individual needs to provide proof of citizenship (if over 10 years of age with a valid bilhete de identidade, if under 10 years of age with a current birth certificate.) Consular authorities may require other pieces of identification (i.e. expired passports) as required by local law. Currently no photograph is required, as digital photograph is taken at the time of the application.
