We are trying to get a birth certificate for a friend. She has never had a birth cert. She applied for a lost certificate but the health department and the state told her she had to find the midwife who birthed her and get her records. All she has is the persons first name and the city where they think she lives. Someone help? She cant even get a drivers license because she doesnt have a birth certificate.

  1. It's not an uncommon problem. There are a lot of unlicensed people acting as midwives in this country. If you send me what you know about the missing midwife and which state your friend lives in, I'll see if I can get a message to her that your friend needs her help.

  2. Tell her to get it herself and tell the two sticky beaks to keep out of it.

  3. Something here is TOTALLY SCREWED.

A (legal) midwife is no reason to fail to get a birth certificate. The parent had absolutely no reason or excuse to not know the law concerning birth certificates and have one issued. HOW did your friend get enrolled in school?

Personally, I would be very afraid of something else, that the parents are lying.. and your friend might have been the victim of something like a family abduction.
