I need to find the security code to my BMW e36 stock radio. The radio s/n is F 30241457 A?

Can anyone help? I saw a previous answer that the code can be looked up by head unit serial number? Can someone verify please?

Only dealer personnel can access the BMW site storing this data.

And some dealers are kind enough to give the code for free provided you bring proper identification both for you and the car.

The codes were put in place to minimize radio and car thefts.

So if somebody  gives you the code unofficially and it turns out that the radio was stolen, he could become accessory to the crime (aside from the obvious risk of losing his job).
