I need to find the securoty code to my BMW e36 stock radio.?

Can anyone help? I saw a previous answer that the code can be looked up by head unit serial number? Can someone verify please?

it happened once to me and i just took it to the dealer.

You can get the code at the dealer if you bring the serial number and a copy of the registration for proof of ownership.  The radio comes out with a 5 sided key, so don't waste time with an allen wrench.
