I need to get LAN on a computer???

I reinstalled xp on my brothers computer...and its not detecting the internet cable hooked up to it...that is hooked up to a router...help.

This is a simple question and there is a simple answer.

1) look at the computer brand.

2) go on the computer brands website

3) click/find drivers and downloads

4) enter computer model

5) look for ETHERNET drive

6) download

7) extract

8) internet

did you install the motherboard drivers and lan drivers on the disk ?
