I need to get a copy

of my w2 from 2006. The employer has went out of business, how can I get this fast? The IRS website says two weeks. I need it today!!

  1. Visit your local IRS office and they will provide you a wage information transcript.  Take your photo  ID with you, must have your current address.


  2. As the other answer states here, there should be a copy of your form W2 with your copy of your 2006 return.  If you don't have your copy any more then go into an IRS office in your area and ask for a copy of your 2006 Transcript and 2006 Income Information (IRP).  The Transcript will show that you filed for 2006 and the amount of income you reported.  The IRP will give you all the income information reported to the IRS under your Social Security Number.

    Visit the IRS web site at www.irs.gov for the IRS office in your area.

  3. You should have one with your copy of your 2006 tax return.  If not, you'll have to wait for the IRS to send you one since the employer is out of business.  Did you go to someone like HR Block or have a CPA prepare your return?  A CPA might have it, but I doubt HR Block would.

    Otherwise you are just out of luck.
