  1. that's a problem with paraffin nothing sticks to it -- it has to be ground or sanded off.  First hit it with a heat gun to melt the wax.  a hobby type heat gun is in the best heat range for this part of the job (not a commercial gun).   wipe the wax off with paper towels and sand down to the gel coat to remove any wax residue.  widen the worst cracks to remove the wax between the sides of the cracks. Then your polyester resin or epoxy resin should stick.  good luck

  2. Use a hairdryer and a lot of paper towels, heating up the wax and then rubbing it off. Use some fine grit sand paper to sand the area around the cracks.  Then, wipe the area of the cracks with alcohol to make sure it's really clean.

If you don't get the wax off, the repair will fail.  A light bit of sanding should do the trick at the end, and you're going to have to rough up the surface anyway so the epoxy will hold.

  3. Welcome to the 21st century!

A heat gun will work fine to get off the paraffin wax- however it can damage the glass job so I'd leave it deck up in the sun for an hour then take a wax comb to get most of it off... after that get some sticky bumbs wax remover to get all the excess wax off.

I can't imagine it's too important of a board (no offense meant) if paraffin wax is on it.  So just use some solar rez (sp?) to fix the small dings- then sand it down with some 200+ grit sandpaper.

Then promise me you'll never use paraffin wax again- get surf wax and your problems will be finished.
