Also, where is a trustworthy place to get this done for cheap? Any particular chain, like Tires Plus? Sears Auto?

  1. sears is $18 for a smaller normal sized rim.  more expensive for "low-profile" tires.  i wouldnt suggest the kit they are for temporary use only.

  2. 7.00 @ walmart, 10.00@tire shop

  3. National Tire & Battery will do it (patch and plug) for free...

  4. not a good idea but in fl. it illeagle to charge because it voids the warrentee.

  5. Any tire shop can do it or you can do it yourself(kit).

  6. Buy a kit for $6.00 and do it yourself.

  7. Take it to walmart or sears and they can fix it. Should be around 20 bucks.

  8. "Plugging" is not an approved type of repair for a passenger radial tire and the use of such a method will void the factory warranty on your tire.

The only proper way to repair a tire is with an internal combination patch/plug which requires removing the tire from the rim and inspecting it for internal damage.  You can't do that at home. Any tire store does this a dozen or more times a day and costs vary by location so give a local store a call.
